"Paying Your Dues"

The guest speakers in journalism classes at Columbia often spoke about the hard work necessary to become a professional journalist. And I'll have to admit that Sewell Chan's recent accomplishment of 422 reporting credits in the past 12 months for the New York Times is a testament to that. An intimidating testament, but a testament all the same.
