Week 11 Power Rankings: Somewhat forgettable

As I get started here on catching up on what I missed during the utterly fantastic little break I just took from work and posting here on BMC, I suppose the one thing I wanted to remember Week 11 by was Richard Seymour leveling Big Ben during Pittsburgh's 35-3 blowout of Oakland.

 

I did decently enough with my picks that week to gain another 109 points, but the week got off to a bad start with me being in the minority in picking the banged-up Dolphins to beat my beloved Bears on Thursday night. There were two other rather costly games that weekend that ultimately doomed my hopes and as a result, I wasn't able to finish atop the standings in either pool despite a respectable enough record for the week.

 

Again, it was a week where even a strong straight-up record was going to be offset by the proper placement of bets, and most damaging was the Washington Redskins continuing to be an enigma for me on the year by doing the opposite of what I had expected. I mean, wasn't that Randy Moss fellow supposed to be playing or something?

 

Whatvevs. Not necessarily a terrible week, but not a great one either.

My own Week 11 picks were good for a second straight eighth place finish in the PoolHost league:

And unfortunately, my tenure in first place for the year was short-lived as the Week 11 results dropped me to third on the year:

Story wasn't much different in the Yahoo pool, although my fifth place finish over there was technically closer to the bottom than the top:

And the gap between myself and the fellow in first place ballooned to 28 points:

My 11-5 record was once again pretty middle-of-the-pack, maybe even on the lower end.

Mike Golic of ESPN and Jason Cole of Yahoo were the best of the usual bunch with 14-2 marks for the week. Merrill Hoge was right behind at 13-3 while Ron Jaworksi had the same number wrong but one less right at 12-3. Eric Allen went 12-4 while Chris Mortensen, Les Carpenter, and Michael Silver all had the same 11-5 record as myself. Seth Wickersham and Pete Prisco of CBS Sports both went 10-6, but it was Adam Schefter and Mark Schlereth bringing up the rear for the week with 9-7 records.

So technically speaking, Jaws now overtakes the best winning percentage of the year—despite having picked 11 less games than everyone else:
